The Lake Glenbawn Classic will be held at the picturesque Lake Glenbawn, located 14kms east of Scone, approximately 2 hours north west of Newcastle along the New England Highway and 3.5 hours from Sydney (north along the F3 Freeway to Cessnock, then north west along the New England Highway to Aberdeen, turning right at the Commercial Hotel). The Lake can be accessed through three gateway towns - Aberdeen, Scone and Gloucester via the Barrington Tops - and is located 15 minutes from Scone and 10 minutes from Aberdeen.

On the day of the swim, participants will be able to exit the Glenbawn State Recreational area for $2.00 instead of the regular $8.00 fee. Swimmers must purchase an exit token for $2.00 upon registration or they will not be able to take advantage of the cheaper price.

There are camping facilities available on the foreshores of Lake Glenbawn State Park, a Caravan Park and cabins overlooking the lake. Many other accommodation options are available for review and online booking through the Upper Hunter Shire Tourism Website. On the day of the swim there will be a raffle, with the first prize being a fantastic holiday package at one of the cottages at Lake Glenbawn - generously donated by Lake Glenbawn State Recreation Area.

Whilst in the area for the Classic you might like to take time to look at some of the area's many attractions. The thoroughbred industry have made the area their home, breeding many past and future Melbourne Cup winners, and Burning Mountain (located just north of Wingen and Scone) is a smouldering coal seam that has been declared a geological wonder - and it's a great way to enjoy a 3km walk. Many National Parks are located in the area and all allow for an individual and memorable experience. The townships of Scone, Aberdeen, Muswellbrook, Murrurundi, and Wingen all have quaint antique stores, historical societies that take pride in yesteryear, enjoyable food and wine experiences, and tourists drives that traverse many of the Shire's best sights. True country hospitality awaits your arrival - drop into the Scone Visitor Information & Wine Centre, located on the New England Highway in Scone, to collect your complimentary information pack when you arrive.
